These aren't the most perfectly written blogs, but I feel an urgency to share them quickly, so please overlook my mistakes.
Last night I dreamt that I was pregnant, and then I began
saying hey I can’t be pregnant because I am way beyond child-bearing years. I
was feeling disappointed. Then this morning in faith I open to Luke 1 and began
reading about Zacharias and Mary. I noticed how Mary questioned the angel as to
how the impossible promise would come to pass since she was a virgin. What
leapt out to me was the “how” of this passage. The how is the most important
thing, for it directs our faith eyes to God who accomplished the impossible
through His Holy Spirit. In Christ, we have all things when we have the Spirit
of the Lord! Praise God!
Where have you heard the word of the Lord and the promise of
God and said, “Lord, that is impossible?”
This filled me with such joy, for Jesus said that it is His
Father’s good pleasure to give us the Holy Spirit who gives us His Kingdom!
In answer to her question, and to every impossible
situation, the Lord says this:
The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit shall come upon you,
and the power of God shall overshadow you; so the baby born to you will be
utterly holy…the Son of God. Furthermore, six months ago your Aunt Elizabeth,
“the barren one” they called her-became pregnant in her old age. For
every promise from God shall surely come true.”
The only reason that Jesus said, “With God all things are
possible” instead of “certain”, is because we may or may not believe the word
of the Lord! God has spoken His word,
but what will we believe? All things would definitely come to pass if we would
only believe the word of the Lord. Our
response is the determining factor. The
righteous shall live by faith.
Daniel 6:
22-23
My God sent His angel and shut the
lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, since I was found innocent before
Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime. Then was the king
exceeding glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den.
So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon
him, because he had trusted in his God.
There is something about Daniel’s
“excellent spirit” and Esther’s meekness that will protect us and cause us to
overcome in this hour of darkness in which the righteous will shine like stars
in the night sky! Daniel was unwilling to bow to anyone but God-no matter the
cost, because He trusted in His God. Daniel had a revelation of the Lord God so
he trusted Him completely. Esther also had a revelation of God so that she
trusted His direction over her human understanding. She was meek. Esther refused to follow her own
understanding, for who would ever invite an enemy to a special feast where that
same enemy could curry favor and gain influence to execute a diabolical plan?
But God’s ways are not our ways. No man would have ever signed up to place
their life in the hands of their enemy as Jesus did when he allowed Judas to
turn him over to his enemies. God’s ways are not our ways, so we must cleave to
every promise, for God is faithful, and after suffering for a while we will
partake in his glory-for God has promised it. His promises are always tested,
and the test usually lasts longer than we would expect. If we can hold fast
with patience, in due time we will reap a great harvest!
